  • 18 July 2002 – Before IndependentWHO was created, several founding members of the collective (Contratom, CRIIRAD, PSR / IPPNW …) had denounced the WHO / IAEA agreement, by various means, and were calling for the World Health Organization to fulfil its obligations to victims of radioactive contamination.
Consequently, on July 18 2002, members of IPPNW had a meeting with WHO and requested the amendment of the agreement signed between the IAEA and WHO and discussed the issues of transparency and independence of medical research in the field of ionizing radiation, especially after Chernobyl.
